Wednesday, 20th July 2011, Blog 1
Today, we started on our first day of our group work. We finalised our group name which was The Anonymous. We all agreed on this and are happy. We think it really questions who we are and what our movie is going to be based on. So now we created this wikispace and are preparing early for this challenge. As a group, we are collectively developing ideas to succeed and aiming to make a modern day movie scene targeting teens. We are drawing a mindmap to brainstorm what we are going to film and the drama it's going to contain. We are hoping that viewers will be entertained and be engaged which of course is our ultimate goal.
Wednesday, 3rd August. BLOG 2:
Today we surfed the web and visited youtube to find three different videos. These were examples of a video essay, narrative and a documentary. The example we used for a video essay was a video of Christiano Ronaldo scoring goals. The narrative was a flashback of the fairy tale known as the three little pigs. Finally, the documentary we posted up was a short section of a biology documentary. We think these videos will assist us in creating a fun and interesting movie scene, as they give us some tips and background information.
Sunday, 7th August: Blog 3:
Today, as a group we chatted over facebook and discussed what scene we are going to renact. After ten minutes, we finally decided to renact the last scene where a deal is made between Shylock and Bassanio that is Bassanio doesnt repay the money on time, Shylock has to take a pound of flesh from him. However, Portia disguises herself as a man. Doing this she wants to protect Bassanio so she reads out by Jewish Law that no blood can be dropped when cutting the pound of flesh. So Shylock realises that he is unable to do this, so he gives up without giving punishment. However we are going to add some touches and create in to a modern day scene. We think this will be an interesting and challenging scene but are confident that we can come up with a great film. We dont know what we are going to change about this scene just yet though.
Sunday, 7th August: Blog 4
So after planning out and deciding which scene we will be going to renact into a modernised version, it was time to see when and where we are going to film. Many people in our group were busy and didnt't have time on their hands this weekend so we are hoping that in tomorrow's English Lesson, Mrs Pittman will allow us to take the opportunity and film outside. However, if not, we will be filming at a group member's house. We think this short video will take between two to three minutes. Hopefully we can work as a team consistently, work hard and have fun at the same time to film a successful scene.
Blog 5: August 10
Yesterday, Tuesday the 9th, we had an english lesson to get things straight and finish some extra things that needed to be completed. However, on this occasion Shaun and Tony weren't here, so it was up to Charbel and I (brenden) to step up. We discussed some ideas for the scene we were planning to film. We created an inspiration mind map to develop a couple of ideas for our film. After this, from the mind map, Charbel drew up a storyboard as I told him what to draw. We think this storyboard will really direct us in the right direction when filiming this.
Blog 6: August 11
Yesterday, August 10th, we finally got the opportunity to film during our English lesson period 5. So our group knew that this was our chance film the scenes we needed. Mr Pillay (Mrs Pittman was away) allowed every group to go the grass area and shoot their clips. Shaun brought his camera along as we wanted. We went to the bottom corner and found some space. After this, we shot the scene we needed in small clips. Shaun and Charbel were the actors , Brenden and I were directing. Even though we had many bloopers through these, we were tremendously happy with what we came up with. We were actually nearly done as we only needed a couple more scenes to film.
Blog 7: August 11
When school was over, we went home and each member of the group jumped on facebook to discuss what type of program we can use to edit the clips and what we can edit or change. We came to a decision to use Windows MovieMaker. Then Shaun sent each of us the clips we filmed so we can analyse it and look for little things we can improve on. We agreed that Shaun should put in between some scenes a short description of time travel. E.g 24 hours later, 6 months later. Overall, we were happy with what we came up with.
Blog 8: August 11
Today it was time to film our last scene during our English lesson. However, on this occasion we were only allowed to use the library and not permitted to use outside. Also Shaun noticed that scene 2 we filmed yesterday, was deleted. So we had to film it again. We filmed it again and added another scene before it to help us in the situation of us being at the library. It was time for our final scene, we realised we needed three more actors. Two for bodyguards and one for Portia. Ahmad, LJ and Chantelle elected to help which was greatly appreciated. This ended up being one of our most entertaining and best scenes from our short movie!! We were really happy with this.

The last night before this assignment was due, was now. Each member of our group hopped on facebook. We were congratulating each other on the efforts we put in and our dedication. Before we could hand this assignment in, we needed to finalise our movie and edit it to make it a fun, interesting film for teens. We all agreed to each make our own edits and versions of it. The best one would be the one we would use as the full movie. Hopefully, in the end we can come up with a creative and interesting movie. We would be happy with our mark no matter what, as we put in the effort. But we would be delighted with a good mark. Again, special thanks to everyone that assisted us in this creative movie we produced.
