Group Name: MGMC01
Team Members: Grace, Nayef, Alican & Melissa

Monday 25th July 2011- BLOG 1

Today was the first day our group was able to sit down and discuss what we were going to do as a group for this task. Our group MGMC 01 consists of Grace, Melissa, Alican, and Nayef. We have all decided on creating a movie trailer on the book, 'The Merchant of Venice'. Our group has chosen a act from the Merchant of Venice, and have decided to do Act 4 scene 1 (The Duke's Palace in Venice). We have all given ourselves roles and have prepared each other for this assessment. We will be acting out our short film at school, and if more time is needed, our group is willing to meet up outside of school. We have also agreed that the next time our group works on this task, we will learn our roles for the film, so that when we want to start recording our film, our group would be prepared.

During our double period of English we watched the film, ‘The Merchant of Venice’. This film was able to give us an idea of what we needed to do for our short film trailer. We were able to watch the scene that we were going to do for our short film. We haven’t yet finished watching the movie, so we haven’t decided on who is going to act out the characters for when we film our short movie. We have still agreed on doing Scene 4 Act 1, because we as a group think it’s the most interesting part of the Merchant of Venice. We now have an idea and know that we need more than 4 characters, and that two people from our group have to be acting out two characters each. We understood the task more, and found it a little bit easier when we watched the movie.

Sunday 31st July 2011- BLOG 3

Over the weekend we discussed our assessment task by emailing each other and finalizing who will be acting out what for our short film trailer. We already knew that two people from our group had to act out two characters each, because there were extra characters involved in the scene we are doing. Grace and Nayef volunteered to be acting out two characters each. We finally decided that Grace will be acting Portia and the Duke, Nayef will be acting out Shylock and Gratiano, Alican will be acting Antonio, and Melissa will be acting out Nerissa. The next thing that we as a group are aiming to do is, actually start recording, because our assessment is due next week. We will continue watching The Merchant of Venice in our next English lesson, so we will have an idea what we need to show in our short film trailer. We have gathered the group’s ideas for what we are going to show in the film trailer, and we now have an idea and have started a little bit of the trailer.

Tuesday 2nd August 2011 – BLOG 4

In yesterday’s English lesson we continued watching The Merchant of Venice; we were able to have enough time to finish watching it to the end. After we finished watching the movie, we had a class discussion so that everyone understood what had happened in the movie. This discussion helped us a lot, because if we were stuck with trying to understand something, it was then explained to us. Our group is going to start recording some parts of Act 4 scene 1 in tomorrow’s lesson, so that we can combine the videos together and make it look like a movie trailer. We as a group still have to decide on what parts of the book we are going to act out and record, so that we have enough time by the end of the week to gather all the videos that we need to put into our trailer. We have to work really hard, because there isn’t a lot of time till its due, everyone has to work together so that the assessment task is successful. Our aim is to work together as a group with no muck ups, so then we will be able to finish recording this assessment by Friday, so that one person from the group can take the recordings home and burn them on a disc, so that we can hand it in by Tuesday. If our group stays positive, then we have nothing to worry about when it comes to getting this assessment done in time.

Thursday 4th August 2011- BLOG 5

In today’s lesson Mr Anderson took our English class outside to the grass area to start recording our short film/trailer. Our group didn’t start recording because we never had any idea of what we were going to record, besides the fact that we didn’t know what we were going to record, we couldn’t start recording because our whole group wasn’t at school today. So instead of having that period to record, we sat down with each other and started to finalize what we were going to present in the video. We decide that if we wanted to make a movie trailer, we couldn’t only do it for one scene. This group thought got us thinking that a movie trailer needed bits and pieces of the story/movie. So we then chose some parts that we were going to use in the short trailer. We all agreed on starting to record during tomorrow’s lesson so that we can start to put the trailer together.

Friday 5th August 2011- BLOG 6

In today’s lesson Mr Anderson took us out to the grass area again so that we had another chance for recording our short film/trailer. Our group used the time given to them wisely. We actually were on task, and worked together to get some videos recorded. We also found out that we were given an extension for this assessment, and it will be due next Friday. Our group was really happy with this extension because we were worried that we weren’t going to get the recording done in time. In this period we were able to get at least 7 videos recorded for our trailer. We need to record at least another 7-10 more videos, which will be enough time for the trailer. Our group also needs to make a mind map on inspiration, and combine the videos into movie maker and our assessment task will be done. Our group just needs one more lesson to get all the recordings done. This assessment task has been going smoothly, we haven’t had any problems yet, and we hope we won’t have any.

Monday 8th August 2011- BLOG 7

In today's lesson, Mr Anderson took us to the library. During this period in the library, we were able to go on the computers and start working on our mind map which was on the inspiration program. We actually took this time to try and get working on the mind map, but we didn't know what we wanted to write in the mind map. We didn't have our full group which was a bit harder for us to think of the things that we needed to put in the mind map. We also had a little problem with the videos that we taped. The videos weren't letting us upload them onto movie maker, so we asked someone from the class how to do it, and they told us we had to convert the videos to make the wmv. So Grace took the viedos home, and downloaded the video converter and converted all the videos that we have recorded, and tried to upload them onto the movie maker. Our problem was then solved. We have put a bit of the trailer together, and now know how much more videos we need, because our trailer was too short. So for our next lesson we may need to record more videos to make the time for the trailer more longer.

Thursday 11th August 2011- BLOG 8

In yesterday's double English lesson, Mr Anderson gave us the time to finish recording our videos for our assessment. We got into out groups and started recording our assessment. We were able to get 5 or 6 videos recorded. These recordings were enough videos for us to make the short trailer. We had 12 recordings all up. These recordings were then put together in order. We needed to use some other people from our class to act out in our scenes because our full group wasn't at school. After we had put the recordings together, we then had to add some titles in between it to make it look like a movie trailer. We added some music in the background of the movie trailer. Our trailer was then finished, so all we had to do was upload one more blog so that we have a total of 8, and make the mind map on inspiration. One of our group members had to download the inspiration software to complete the mind map task. When the inspiration mind map is finished our group is going to upload it on our wiki. Once all these parts are done, then our whole English assessment is complete. Overall our group has worked really well together, we have shared ideas as a group and co-operated as one group. A lot of enthusiasm was put from each member of our group. If our group never worked together, we wouldn't have gotten any parts of the assessment task complete.
